» How do I place a booking for a vehicle?
You can place a booking/reservation by either calling us on 01892 653327, or by completing a Vehicle Hire Request Form located next to the vehicle of your choice.

What time can I collect my vehicle?
Our vehicles can only be booked from 08:00 – 08:30. No half day hire available. Any problems, please call the office 01892 653327.

» Is there a minimum age for hiring a vehicle?
Yes, you must be over 25 years of age (no older than 75).

» Is there VAT to be added on top of your prices?
No, we do not charge VAT.

» Are there any other important requirements?

  • You must have a full UK Drivers License  (for a minimum of 24 months)
  • Have no more than 6 penalty points on your drivers license
  • Have no drink and driving convictions in the last 5 Years
  • Have no convictions relating to driving without insurance
  • Had no more than 2 accidents within the past 3 years

» Driving Licence Summary

Due to the changes made by the DVLA on the 8th June 2015 the paper counterpart to the licence is no longer valid.

You will therefore need to print your full licence details at home, via https://www.gov.uk/view-driving-licence or internet search for VIEW MY LICENCE. You will need your national insurance number, driving licence number and your postcode.

You then need to “Share your licence information”, from this page you click the button marked Create a code, and the next page will give you a check code. From here you should choose:

“View, print or save your licence information.”

You must then print the prepared PDF and bring this with you when you collect the vehicle, please note that DVLA have now changed the validity period for the check, and the code is now valid for 21 days.

There is internet access and printer facility here in our office for you to use, should you not have a computer/printer at home – please allow time for the process before collecting your vehicle.

» Is there a Deposit?
Yes, we require a £200 refundable security deposit on collection of a vehicle. £400 for Luton hire.  A pre-authorisation can be taken with a Credit or Debit Card. (Sorry, we do not accept cash.) Apple pay does work on some cards but not others, so please ensure you bring a debit or credit card along.

» Is there any CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) Insurance?
Optional CDW is available at level 1 for £10 per day (this reduces your Insurance Liability from £900 to £300) or level 2 for £20 per day (this reduces your liability from £900 to £0 per day).

» What happens if I am involved in an Accident/ Collision?
If the vehicle is involved in an accident or collision, you may need to call the appropriate Emergency Services. You will also need to notify Crowborough Vehicle Hire as soon as possible on 01892 653327. If safe/possible to do so, take pictures of the rented vehicle, along with any others involved with a digital camera or with your mobile phone. You will also need to complete an accident form located inside of the rented vehicle. In the case of a claim for loss or accident, you will be liable for the first £700 unless CDW insurance has been taken.

» How can I pay Crowborough Vehicle Hire?
The best and easiest way to pay is via a credit or debit card. Please contact us on 01892 653327 for alternative payment options.

» Is there a limit on mileage?
No, apart from one day rentals which are limited to 250 miles. Please contact us for further details.

» Do I need to return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel?
Yes, fuel levels on rented vehicles are recorded before leaving the premises and all our vehicles come with a full tank. A fuel surcharge will be applied to fill the tank up to the recorded level.

» What are your Opening Hours?
Vehicles must be collected/ returned within our opening hours, located below.

» What do I need to bring with me on collection?
Your Full UK Driving Licence (both parts) and 2 forms of ID (can be a Bank Statement and Utility Bill) that are no older than 3 months from the collection date. The two forms of ID must also correspond with the address on your UK Driving Licence.

» Where can I leave my vehicle when hiring from Crowborough Vehicle Hire?
We offer FREE onsite parking for your vehicle for the duration of your hire from CVH.

» Valeting/Animals in our vehicles

We request no animals be transported in our vehicles. A valeting fee may be applied to rectify any soiling due to animal transportation.

In the event that a vehicle is returned in an unclean condition (internally or externally) and requires more than our standard clean, a valeting charge of £30 will apply. Hazardous soiling requiring specialist cleaning will be charged according to the nature of the specialist treatment required.

» Do the vehicles have trackers?
Yes, all vehicles have trackers to protect our assets.
